Choir Events for April-May, 2024
April
Friday, April 5th- Rice Baseball Game Performance
Who: All CJH Choir Students
What: Rice University Baseball Game National Anthem Performance
When: April 5th, 2024
Where: Reckling Park (6100 Main St. Houston, TX 77005)
Transportation: Students will be provided bussing to and from the park. Students will leave CJH at 4:30 PM and return to CJH around 9:30 PM.
Additional Information:
Parents may sign out students at the game if they attend and provide their own transportation to take the student home.
Student tickets are paid for however, students will need to bring money for dinner from the concession stand. It is recommended for a student to bring $15-20. Students can also bring a dinner or have a parent drop one off to eat directly after school gets out instead of concession foods before loading the bus.
Parents, family, and friends are welcome to attend the game! Tickets will be $5 per person. Use the QR Code on the front to purchase your tickets, Parking is $10 per vehicle.
Saturday, April 13th: All-Region Concert and Clinic
Who: for Varsity Members that are ranked high enough from the All-Region competition, announced that evening on Canvas
Where: Taylor High School PAC (in Alief ISD) 7555 HOWELL SUGAR LAND RD HOUSTON, TX 77083
When: Students need to arrive at 7:45 am, concert begins at 4:00 pm and will end around 5:00 pm
Attire: Students will need to wear their choir t-shirt for the morning rehearsals and bring their formal choir uniforms (dresses and dress pants/shirts) for the concert.
Other Information:
Food will be provided for students. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available on request.
Please try to get to the concert early for seating. Last year many parents had to stand to watch their child perform due to the high number in attendance.
All phones should be left OFF in the auditorium and not on the student. Off because we will have rehearsal in the auditorium and there is nothing more fun than trying to find a phone going off.
Students will be required to fill out and turn in a Region concert form (similar to the auditions). Ms. Freed must have a Region Member contract from every student AND it MUST be turned in prior to the day starting on Saturday. Your student cannot perform without this.
Kids must have originals for all 5 pieces they are singing (3 TTB or SSA pieces plus 2 SATB pieces) with them to participate on Saturday. No copies allowed. No exceptions. They should also have a pencil and water for the day.
Sunday, April 14th: TYPHOON TX MONEY IS DUE! by Midnight!

Thursday, May 9th: Spring Show, Love is in the Air
Where: CJH Cafetorium
When: Concert will begin at 6pm, (Students will stay after school)
Attire: Choir T-shirt and jeans with closed-toe shoes and no jewelry.
Other Information:
Students will be fed Marco's cheese and pepperoni pizza.
Students will need to wear their attire to school as there will not be enough time to change.
Students are allowed to perform a school-appropriate song that will fit into our concert's theme. Students must have this song memorized and can find a track for it (such as on YouTube).
Choir awards will be given out at this concert so don't miss it!
Monday, May 20th: School-Wide Talent Show (NOT REQUIRED, all proceeds go towards the choir program)
Who: Any student from CJH that auditions and is chosen to perform in the talent show
Only parents of students in the show are allowed to attend due to the time of day.
Where: CJH Cafetorium
When: During the Advisory Exam Period (End of Day)
Auditions:
Audition times will be announced earlier. Students may perform a talent of any kind such as singing, dancing, gymnastics, karate, poetry, magic tricks, etc.
The top 10 groups/solos will be given a slot in the talent show.
Rehearsals:
If a student makes the talent show, they will be required to attend at least one after school rehearsal prior to the show to practice on the stage.

Los estudiantes deberán usar su vestimenta para ir a la escuela ya que no habrá tiempo suficiente para cambiarse.
A los estudiantes se les permite interpretar una canción apropiada para la escuela que se ajuste al tema de nuestro concierto. Los estudiantes deben memorizar esta canción y poder encontrar una pista para ella (como en YouTube).
En este concierto se entregarán premios corales, ¡no te lo pierdas!
Lunes 20 de mayo: Show de talentos en toda la escuela (NO ES OBLIGATORIO, todas las ganancias se destinan al programa del coro)
Quién: Cualquier estudiante de CJH que audicione y sea elegido para actuar en el concurso de talentos.
Solo los padres de los estudiantes en el programa pueden asistir debido a la hora del día.
Dónde: Cafetería CJH
Cuándo: Durante el período de examen de asesoramiento (final del día)
Audiciones:
Los horarios de las audiciones se anunciarán antes. Los estudiantes pueden realizar un talento de cualquier tipo como canto, baile, gimnasia, kárate, poesía, trucos de magia, etc.
Los 10 mejores grupos/solistas recibirán un lugar en el concurso de talentos.
Ensayos:
Si un estudiante participa en el espectáculo de talentos, deberá asistir al menos a un ensayo después de la escuela antes del espectáculo para practicar en el escenario.
