In the CJH Choir Program, students are placed in choir classes based on biological gender and vocal development.  With few exceptions, all students entering 6th grade are sopranos regardless of biological gender.  As students enter adolescence & puberty their voices change to varying degrees.

Our goal is to give our students the tools to become independent musicians in their own right, and to become a master of their own instrument over the course of the next 7 years.

Repertoire and general vocal instruction are tailored specifically to the students in the room, and no two choirs are the same.  Every choir changes and adapts as the year progresses.  We strive for progress over perfection, excellent musicianship, excellent, healthy vocal technique, and a love of singing. We remind our students that the music is not for "us" the singers, it is for the audience, and we strive to achieve an emotional connection with those who listen.  We seek the "Musical Mountain Top" in every performance.
