I had taken up the task of doing research on how to resolve the problem of the waste generation that is taking place in the toy industry. To tackle this problem, the solutions that I had come up with included developing toy libraries buying locally, reducing packaging and use alternatives of plastic like rubber wood and sugarcane plastic.
The project I had taken on involved thinking from a different perspective, thinking out of the box was really needed since I needed to solve a problem that had cultural and societal attachments to it, the skills acquired, the techniques of other disciplines helped me think about the large perspective of design.
The project goes through the design process of research, data collection, problem statement, concept development and solution. It focuses on the storage problems faced in the kitchen, surveys about the most common ones and formulates its problem statement regarding the non-utilized spaces of kitchen. The final solution is in the form of an ad campaign relating to the urban settlement planning and bringing it inside the kitchen for the kitchenware.
Issues related to dining experience I.e lack of space has been discussed. This problem is mostly faced by B2 category of sec system. I understood that using multi utility furniture can solve the problem of space and this will use less material to create the product which has sustainable benefit as well as cost effective and it will cause less impact on the finance of this group.
This project was about creating a system for evaluation of sustainability of a city based on the guidance of the U4SSC and the national SDG index to progress towards achieving the UN provided targets with the help of available resources and participation of citizens. The stages of design thinking were covered through the process and helped increase our understanding and awareness on the topic of SDG. Depicted here is the prototype of my app made based on the above project brief and it was made by creating layouts after brainstorming and putting them together on Adobe XD. It shows the various features and pages present on the app as well as how a typical user could navigate about the app.
The project brings in focus the fault in the planning of the drainage system which leads to urban flooding. The objective of the project is to reduce the damage that is done by the urban floods every year. The research offers the solution of permeable pavements which absorbs water on the pavement and helps in infiltration of water into the ground.
The project focuses on elimination of Plastic Cutlery from our lives and switching to Edible Cutlery. It aims to make people aware of the concept of Edible Cutlery and its benefits. The creative posters and the video have been created to give out a loud message to people of all age groups.
The project focuses on Sustainable Bungalows and how we can bring a change in the current bungalow system. From floor to roof, sustainable products such as bamboo needs to be used. Fixation of renewable and innovative energy supplies is the best possible thing to make a place healthier and sustainable to live in.

This was a project that I felt very passionate working on, it gave me insight on how solutions are brought up with the problems that we face in these times, how society works and how to understand the importance of empathy on a country wide scale.
I had taken up the option to do research on how environmental issues rise with tires being burnt frequently with having knowledge about the targets of the sustainable developmental goals of the United Nations.
After addressing and understanding the chosen area of intervention that is “Traffic Congestion In My City Surat” I concluded that there needs to be the development of better interaction between the general public. The need for better guidance for a better experience was felt.
Communication between the goals of Municipality and the general public’s demands and comfort is what this project aims to achieve.
The reason behind my take on this project was to create a platform which brings together the ‘designers’, working with sustainable materials, who are good at designing green spaces and ‘clients’ that are looking for the same. The website ‘Serena’ offers clients the information on various sustainable materials, the process followed, the past projects, social handles and an overview about the work.
This revolves around the ability to take data and to be able to understand it, to process it, to extract the value from it, to visualize it, to communicate it. That’s going to be hugely important skill in the upcoming years. Humans aren't rational beings, we need to understand mentally, not emotionally, understanding the situation with proper analysis would help us move forward.
This project I took upon had helped gain insight on how to think from an outside the box perspective and to understand what sustainability means and not just use it for the sake of using the term. Earth is majorly affected by human behavior and that is the theme of this project is to find out how to help fix those errors.
The project brings focus on inclusive urbanization, that is, cities being inclusive and safe for all people. City infrastructure at present is not safe for people with disabilities since it is designed and built for “normal people”. One of the main reasons for this is lack of awareness, ignorance and budget limitations. Solutions for the same were discussed in this project.
This project is based on changing normative lifestyles and making them more sustainable in terms of waste and resource management. The general impression seems to be that plastic is unavoidable in the very necessary process of grocery shopping; Decreasing plastic usage is in no way impossible. Furthermore, the revival of old customs such as bringing your “own utensil” also seems quite viable. Packaging is not only costly to the consumer but to the planet as well.
The project’s focus was the sustainable development goal 11 put forward by the UN i.e Sustainable Cities and Communities. A micro-research was done about the city I live in, Mumbai where I mind-mapped all the sustainability issues it deals with and the most common and severe problem was flooding during monsoons. I analyzed its reasons, found out a few solutions and finally decided upon creating awareness posters for ocean pollution and water pollution in general.
After studying 17 goals by the United Nations and different aspects involved in the functioning of a city, I zeroed down to a very basic and an obscured problem: waste management. The usual technique for cutting a milk pouch results in an extra plastic piece. I came up with a simple technique to cut that pouch which will not produce any other plastic pieces. An awareness poster and a layout for Milk shops displaying this solution were also made.
