System and Rule

Morning Class and Afternoon Class

Courses are held twice in the morning (M) and afternoon (A) (Japan Standard Time) with the SAME CONTENT.

Choose either Morning class (M) or Afternoon class(A) and attend only the registered one. Choose the one that is convenient for you, considering the time difference and the schedule of your university. It is not possible to register for the same course both in the morning and afternoon.

e.g : Pronunciation of Japanese 2・3 (M) and Pronunciation of Japanese 2・3 (A) offer the same content. You cannot register for both.

(1) 9:00-10:30 (KUIS 1st period)

(2) 10:40-12:10 (KUIS 2nd period)

*No courses for this program in the KUIS 3rd period (13:10-14:40)

(4) 14:50-16:20 (KUIS 4th period)

(5) 16:30-18:00 (KUIS 5th period)

Grading

A+: 100-90 (Grade point: 4)

A: 89-80 (Grade point: 3)

B: 79-70 (Grade point: 2)

C: 69-60 (Grade point: 1)

Fail: 59-0 (Grade point: 0)

Grading Policy and Other Rules

For a detailed explanation of the grading policy for each class, please read the course syllabus that the instructor/professor will hand out at the beginning of the course.

As a general rule, more than one-third of absences means Fail. Being late or leaving early from class three times will be counted as one absence. A different attendance policy may apply depending on the course. Absences with legitimate reasons that are known in advance should be reported to the instructor.

Cheating and Plagiarism

Cheating and plagiarism will be strictly dealt with in accordance with KUIS regulations.

Required Environment

Make sure your internet connection is fast and stable. Most of the courses require you to speak. Attend classes without anyone around you and in a place you can speak.

Prepare these devices:

• Laptop or desktop computer (no tablet/smartphone)

• Headset with a microphone

• Webcam

• The latest version of computer applications used (Zoom, Google etc.)

*If you have any problem using the computer apps, consult with your instructor.

Students’ cooperation with KUIS and Bekka

1. KUIS public relations activities

Bekka students will occasionally be asked to take part in videos or photos taken for KUIS public relations purposes (production of recruitment pamphlets and videos). Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

2. Research activities

Bekka students will occasionally be asked to take part in research (doing surveys, being research assistants, etc) conducted by Bekka, the graduate school, or KUIS departments. Your assistance may either be paid or voluntary.

3. Bekka curriculum development

To support the ongoing research on Bekka Curriculum Development, Bekka students may be asked for permission to use student's homework and classroom assignments to collect the research data. The data will be anonymous and confidential.
