Said to bring prosperity, good health and safe travels, the hei matau is a contemporary adornment also used to signify one's connection to the water.
A guardian bringing balance and protection. The head of a bird, body of a man and tail of a fish represent the sky, earth and sea. Often this will include three fingers representing birth, life, death.
Heart designs are often associated with feelings and meanings of love, unity, and cohesion. A heart resonates as the perfect expression of love.
The Hei Tiki represents the human form and one's ancestors. Traditionally passed from parent to child or used for protection and good luck. It links the past, present and future.
