  • Follow all applicable district and school protocols for planning and scheduling field trips

  • Submit the North Star to Nanook Campus Experience Scheduling Request Form (online)

      • Note: if you are coordinating your field trip with a partner teacher, each teacher must complete and submit a separate request form.

  • Submit bus request to the school secretary. Note: Transportation for Title I Schools is funded through Student Support Services; contact Student Support Services for account numbers.

  • Distribute information to students and families: permission/notification and obtain a count of how many sack lunches will be needed

  • Submit sack lunch requests to Nutrition Services (minimum 10-day advance notice required!)

  • Recruit parent/family chaperones

On the day of the trip

  • Check out a p-card from the school secretary to purchase a cookie on campus for each student. Save the receipt!

After the Campus Experience

    • Submit the receipt for the cookies to the school secretary (contact Student Support Services for account numbers).

    • Distribute Alaska College Savings Plan booklets to students to take home. (Student Support Services will send booklets to the teacher the week of the field trip).

    • Complete the Evaluation Survey

After a "North Star to Nanook" Early Campus Experience request has been submitted by a teacher, UAF coordinates with campus faculty and departments to develop a unique experience designed to introduce students to campus life and academic options. Then, UAF sends a confirmation agenda to the teacher detailing the schedule in a Campus Visit Itinerary.
