Frequently Asked Questions:

How many classes can go on a campus visit?

• • No more than two classes or about 48-52 students.

  • Depending on the size of the group, you might need to split into smaller groups for tours. Be sure to have additional chaperones.

Who pays for the bus transportation?

• • Title I Schools: Student Support Services has set aside Title I funding to pay for one trip per 3rd and 4th grade class at each Title I school.

  • Non-Title I Schools: School field trip funds

Who schedules the bus transportation?

• Bus transportation is arranged by the school secretary (similar to any other field trip).

  • Title I Schools: Student Support Services will provide the secretary with the designated account number for charging the fees.

Can siblings come along?

• • No. Siblings who are in another grade or are not enrolled in school may not attend this field trip.

Do I have to arrange for my own chaperones?

• • Yes. Although UAF will provide a guide and additional ambassadors, each class should ensure an ample number of chaperones.

  • Recommendation: 1 adult for every 10 students.

Will UAF be able to accommodate students with special needs?

• • Yes. UAF will make every effort to accommodate students with special needs. Please give specific information regarding your students' needs when completing the Campus Visit Request Form.

  • Specialized support for Special Education students should be coordinated with the Special Ed. teacher, Principal or Sped. Coordinator.

Can parents meet us at UAF and attend the field trip?

• • Yes, parents may meet the class on campus.

  • Please refer to your site based requirements and processes for family involvement on field trips.
