About Me:

My name is Ashley Walley and I am a teacher, wife, and mom, among many other things. I live in North Pole, Alaska where I taught from 2016-2021 in a preschool special education classroom. Upon the birth and diagnosis of my daughter with congenital cataracts, I learned of the whole new world of vision and just knew I wanted to take what I'd learned as a mom further and pursue my TVI certification, so here I am! I recently joined the BVI team as a TVI and look forward to continuing to learn and support students and their families in their vision journey.

I am a Fairbanks community graduate having graduated from West Valley High School where I went on to attend and graduate from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Minor in Elementary Education. I continued on to receive my post-baccalaureate teaching certification and my Master's degree in Special Education. I now teach for the University of Alaska Fairbanks as an adjunct instructor, and thoroughly love getting to teach and getting to know the up and coming teachers in our community where I later get to work alongside of them. I am just finishing up my TVI program at Stephen F. Austin University where I can proudly say, I survived a summer learning braille. ;)

I have a husband (Perry) and three kids at home: Shea (17), Jaxton (7), and Sutton (3). We love to camp, ride four-wheelers, go jet-skiing, and hang out with extended family in our spare time!
