Welcome to Art 1!

This year is all about experimentation and foundational skills. We begin with the elements of art and principles of design, which become our springboard into a wide range of materials and techniques including drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

Major projects this year include observational still life drawing, color theory, one point perspective, artist trading cards, and surrealist dream worlds. Students work in their sketchbooks at the start of every class, and each finished piece is documented in a digital portfolio with a written artist statement.
