Alanah Horning
School Social Worker/ SEL Counselor
My name is Alanah Horning and I am the Mental Health Professional Social Worker here at WAHS. I gained my Bachelor of Social Work degree at James Madison University (go Dukes!) and then went on to become a foster care worker before transitioning into the school system as a Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor. I went back to get my Master of Social Work Degree at the small University of Edinboro before arriving at WAHS to provide mental health support services. This is my second year here and I am more than excited to start working with students and families again.

Steve Kohrherr
Counseling Office Assistant
Mr. Kohrherr is the gatekeeper, phone answerer, pass runner, and pulse taker, tour leader, and welcoming committee of the Counseling Department. His years of performing with a touring theatre company give him the skills to "read the audience". His years of Comedy Improv allow him to engage in the moment, being present and available . And his years as a Retail Manager provide him with a personal, professional demeanor that compliments the great work of the WAHS Counseling Department.

Claudia Bendick
Registrar
Before joining the Counseling Office, Mrs. Bendick taught for almost 20 years in both high school and college, including over 12 years here at WAHS.  Growing up, Mrs. Bendick always wanted to be a teacher, a librarian, or a professional musician, so it was no surprise that she ended up with a BFA double major in music and English from SFASU.  She also has a Master of Sacred Music degree from SMU, and an MA in English (Medieval Studies) from UVa.  Mrs. Bendick lived in Dallas and in Denver before moving here to Crozet.  She enjoys cooking, hanging out in museums, and curling up with a good book, and her job in the Counseling Office indulges her love of organizing and puzzle-solving.
