Come experience Minecraft Education Edition and all the possibilities for your classroom. We’ll spend the first part of the session exploring what Minecraft is and how we’ve used it to teach the curriculum. Next, we will explore some tools and strategies you can use to build your own worlds and learning experiences. Think of a lesson or unit idea to workshop and we’ll work together to make it a reality.
Our Session Goals:
Learn how to set classroom expectation for use
Learn how MC can be an instructional resource and integrated into content
Learn how to find lessons and ready made worlds
Learn how to navigate the software
Minecraft is an immersive 3-D virtual world, in which everything is made of cubes. ACPS has a contract with Microsoft and has paid for all teachers and students to have a license to Minecraft Education Edition. All licenses are accessed through the user's ACPS email. Users need to install the software. Once installed, the program can be run on the device. Created worlds are stored locally on the user's device (laptop or iPad).
Why Use Minecraft?
Hooks learners into content
Offers opportunities for collaboration, planning, problem-solving, creativity, spatial-temporal thinking (the ability to mentally move objects through time and space)
Easily integrates with all content areas
