Governor's School Applications: Now Open

Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School provides students currently in 10th and 11th grade an opportunity to continue their learning over the summer with some of the most talented students throughout the state.

Family Interest Meetings will be held on Parent/Teacher conference nights on October 20th and October 28th from 6-6:30 in the AHS Library.

ASVAB Testing: December 8th

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Test is scheduled for December 8, 2026, in the Counseling Conference Room at 9:00 am. This test is mandatory for those interested in military enlistment after high school. If you would like to sign up, please contact your school counselor or Ms. Morse at (rmorse@k12albemarle.org). 

Nomination Based Scholarships

There are several prestigious, competitive scholarships that allow high schools to nominate only one applicant to represent their school.   For your convenience, AHS will use one application for all of the nomination-based scholarships.  You can apply to be the nominee for multiple scholarships; the application form will allow you to indicate which scholarships you are seeking the nomination for.

AP Exam Registration 💻

AP exam registration will start on Monday, October 5th and will run through Wednesday October 21st. Students must complete an AP Exam Registration form to Mrs. Johnson (come to the counseling office).  AP Exam Registrations will only be accepted before school, after school, and during lunch.  AP Exam Registration Forms are available in the school counseling office. In order for students to take an AP exam(s), they MUST complete a registration form, submit payment, and join the class section in myap.collegeboard.org.

Cap & Gown Order 🎓

Caps and gowns are on sale NOW through December 1st at a discounted cost of $49 plus tax. You can order online by clicking the link below OR in person on October 14 & 15 from 4-6:30 PM. We will be set-up in the front lobby in front of the auditorium entrance. Bring cash or card.

2027-28 FAFSA Form Now Available 💰

The 2027–28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) launched early this year and is now available to submit online. 

Senior Government Presentations 🎤

Counselors are presenting to all seniors during their Government class. Information will focus on planning for life after graduation: employment, enrollment, or enlistment. Presentation is available here.
