WHAT IS A BREAK?
A break is the removal of all demands and/or environmental stimuli. A break is provided to a student to allow them time to regulate themselves so that they are ready to return to regular scheduled school activities. In order for breaks to be successful, students often need to be taught a break routine which can include a break space and coping strategies and tools.
