WHAT IS AN FBA?
FBA stands for Functional Behavioral Assessment
Some students struggle to learn in school because of behavior challenges.
Functional behavioral assessment (FBA) is a process we use to figure out what’s causing challenging behavior.
Generally, an FBA leads to a plan with strategies to improve the behavior (such as Tier 1 resources found on our website).
HOW TO?
8 STEPS TO COMPLETING AN FBA
Define the problem behavior
Collect information and required data
Analyze the data once collected
Develop a Hypothesis of the Function of the Behavior (Why is the student doing it?)
Verify Your Hypothesis
Develop a Behavior Plan that Includes Replacement Behaviors that are Functionally Equivalent
Evaluate the Fidelity of the Plan- Accuracy and Consistency
Evaluate the Effectiveness of the Plan and Modify the Plan as Needed
More info on each of these steps can be found here -->
