Our officer positions for the 2024-2025 school year, our third year, include president, vice president, event coordinator, treasurer, secretary, social media manager, and urgent action coordinator.
Emma Mazzotta - President & Founder
Emma Mazzotta is the founder and president of the JJHS Amnesty club. She is a rising senior and a second-year Student Activist Coordinator for AIUSA devoted to onboarding and mentoring new Amnesty student groups. Her hobbies include dancing, hiking, reading, spending time outside with her dog, and volunteering. She is interested in studying environmental science and policy in college.
Emma's responsibilities as president include planning and running meetings, organizing club events, hosting officer meetings, staying in contact with our club advisors, Mr. Utter and Ms. Schlusser, and delegating tasks to the other club officers.
Maggie Yang - Vice President
Maggie Yang is the video-president of the JJHS Amnesty club. She is a rising senior and has been a part of the club since its founding. Her hobbies include reading, listening to music, and sleeping. She is interested in studying biology in college.
Maggie's responsibilities as vice president include aiding the president in planning and running meetings, helping to organize club events, running meetings in the president's absence, and completing the daily announcement form to advertise club meeting's and event's.
Kailey Fitzgerald -Event Coordinator
Kailey Fitzgerald is the event coordinator of the JJHS Amnesty club. She is a rising senior and a general member of Amnesty International USA. Her hobbies include crocheting, running, and gardening. She is interested in studying environmental science and sustainability in college.
Kailey's responsibilities as Event Coordinator include planning and facilitating the 3 main amnesty events (BBW, W4R, and NWSA),creating material lists and sign up sheets for materials, planning outreach and recruitment events, and handling all correspondence pertaining to club events.
Karen Wong - Treasurer
Karen Wong is a founding member and treasurer of the JJHS Amnesty club. She is a rising senior. Her hobbies include dancing, reading, sleeping, and running for the JJHS cross country team. She is interested in studying bioengineering and conducting research in college.
Karen's responsibilities as treasurer include managing club funds by setting up meetings with Ms. Ingalls, our student accounts specialist, depositing money after fundraisers, handling reimbursements, and assisting the other officers in event planning.
Ina Sabarre - Secretary
Ina Sabarre is a rising senior and secretary in amnesty. She enjoys reading, writing, art, and music. In college she hopes to pursue computer science, english, or music. She’s very passionate about maintaining a woman’s right to an abortion.
Ina's responsibilities as secretary include recording meeting minutes, attendance, record club votes, keep track of club volunteer hours, and helping out with anything that the other officers needed.
Daniela Rosado - Social Media Manager
Daniela Rosado is the social media manager of JJHS Amnesty club. She is a current sophomore and 2nd year member of Amnesty International. She hopes to use her position to promote the critical work Amnesty is doing on Instagram. She loves volleyball, animals, volunteering, spending time with family, and traveling. She is interested in studying communications and marketing in college!
Daniela's responsibilities as social media manager are to run the club's social media, post Instagram stories the day before each meeting, use club pictures to create aesthetically pleasing social media posts for all platforms, and to lead club members in creating social media content at meetings as needed.
Joseph Stefano - Urgent Action Coordinator
Joseph Stefano is the urgent action coordinator for Amnesty International. He’s an upcoming sophomore at John Jay and a 2nd year member of Amnesty. He aspires to help other students and people around the world find their voices through his work with Amnesty. He enjoys playing video games, astronomy, music, and running. He is interested in architecture as a potential field of study in college.
Joseph's responsibilities as urgent action coordinator are to select urgent action cases from Amnesty’s website to work on at club meetings, present new urgent action cases to the club, format sample letters, addresses, etc, and keep count of how many urgent action cases each club member writes.
