Our Mission

The mission of the John Jay High School Amnesty International Club is to raise awareness for and put an end to human rights violations worldwide through collaborative activism.

Club Activities

Throughout the school year, we work to raise awareness for human rights violations and help the people who have been affected through the following actions:

Membership

Any student at John Jay High School is eligible to join the JJHS Amnesty International Club. We meet every Thursday after school in room 189 from 2:30-3:30. Being a member of the JJHS Amnesty International Club will give you the opportunity to:


We have multiple membership tiers that are dependent upon the level of a student's involvement in the club.

Requirements

Active Member: attend 40% of meetings, 3 volunteer hours, take action on 2 urgent action cases

Dedicated Member: attend 50% of meetings, 5 volunteer hours, take action on 5 urgent action cases

Accomplished Member: attend 65% of meetings, 10 volunteer hours, take action on 8 urgent action cases

***ALL new members must pay $20 in dues at the beginning of the school year
