Joanne Sadler is a violinist and educator. She has taught strings in the Somerville Public Schools since 2009. She teaches students from elementary through middle and high school, is the director of the High School Orchestra, All City Chamber Ensemble, the All City Middle School Orchestra, and the Summer Music Program, a two-week camp held each summer.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Joanne has lived in Europe and the US performing with orchestras including the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the Australian World Orchestra, the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Ulster Orchestra, Belfast, the Cirque d’Hiver Orchestre, Paris, and the London Concertante. Since 2008, Joanne has lived in Somerville, performing throughout New England as a freelancer with the Plymouth Philharmonic, the Cape Ann Symphony and the Vista Philharmonic. She has also performed with The Who, The Eagles, Michael Buble, “Weird Al” Jankovic, The Beach Boys, Placido Domingo, and Andrea Bocelli.

Hilary Lewis is a violist, violinist, and educator in Cambridge by way of the San Francisco Bay Area. As a versatile freelance performer, she brings a love of eclectic, independently produced music to the stage, creating performances that blend tradition with fresh, unexpected sounds.
As an educator, Hilary is passionate about weaving current and contemporary music into a traditional curriculum, giving students both a strong technical foundation and a sense of music’s living, evolving voice. She believes music is a unique and transformative field of study: it challenges students to practice something difficult with persistence, to listen with their full attention, and to explore their own creativity in the process.

Megan Van Wie mvanwie@k12.somerville.ma.us
Megan Van Wie is a violinist and string educator from Rochester, New York. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University, studying Music Education and Violin. During her time there she was a Clare Hodgson Meeker Fellow, funding three summers for her at Eastern Music Festival in their Young Artists Orchestra Program.
Megan regularly gigs and plays around Boston, playing with orchestra groups including the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra (as their newly appointed Principal Second Violin), Firebird Pops Orchestra, No Name Orchestra, and North Shore Philharmonic. Wherever there is an opportunity to make music with kind people, she wants to be there.
Completing her student teaching in Lexington Public Schools with string teacher Jessica Billings-White, Megan went on to be a Violin Teaching Artist for Somerville’s Summer Music Program. This fall she begins her first year teaching strings at both Somerville Public Schools and El Sistema Somerville. Megan’s goal as an educator and artist is to create an inclusive, welcoming space where every student belongs.

Immei Wong is a violinist originally from Macau, China. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from The Boston Conservatory, and Master’s Degrees in Music Performance and Music Education from The Boston Conservatory. She has been a teaching artist at the Berklee Institute for Arts Education and Special Needs since 2015. She has taught at El Sistema Somerville, the Boston Music Project, and in the Arlington and Somerville Public Schools.
Immei is an experienced teacher who believes all children are capable of musical learning, regardless of their diverse abilities. As a musician and a teacher, she strives to bring out the musical talents of her students and provide them with a safe and joyful learning environment.
