¡Hola, me llamo Señora Himley!
Hello, my name is Mrs. Himley. I am the Spanish teacher at Stagebarn Middle School. I am originally from Eastern South Dakota, but I relocated a few years ago and now call the Black Hills my home! I am a Jackrabbit through and through. I graduated from SDSU in 2014 with my bachelor's in Spanish Education and minor in History. In 2018, I obtained my master's degree in Education Administration, also from SDSU.
On the weekends, you may see me skiing at Terry Peak, checking out live music, or hiking in the Black Hills. A few of my favorite hobbies include cooking, reading, crafting, yoga, and spending time with my husband and our three dogs.
I am so excited for the upcoming school year and can't wait to see all my students again!

Grading
Grading Categories
Assessments
Assessments make up 55% of your grade
Proficiency-based grading based on ACTFL standards
Novice Low - Novice High
Unlimited retakes on ALL assessments!
Practice
Practice points make up 35% of your grade
Examples: Señor Wooly Nuggets, Garbanzo Lessons, Worksheets, etc.
May make corrections to any assignment to earn points back!
Work Habits
Work Habits points make up 10% of your grade
Examples: in-class activities, graded lessons, bell ringers, etc.
Missing Work Policy
Work will be marked missing if student does not complete work by due date
Students can turn late work in with no penaltyNo penalty for late work
Exception: After grading window has closed for rotation
Rotation Due Dates
Rotation 1: Wednesday, October 9th
Rotation 2: Monday, December 4th
Rotation 3: Tuesday, February 4th
Rotation 4: Friday, March 28th
Rotation 5: Friday, May 16th
All assessments, practice activities, missing work, retakes, etc. must be completed by this date! Anything not completed will be marked as a 0.
Emails will be sent to both students and parents at least one week prior to end of course due dates.
