Never pay to enter a scholarship!
Steps for writing an essay:
Know your audience
Create a thesis-your entire essay should revolve around this.
Brag-create a brag sheet of all of your accomplishments. This can also be given to your references to assist them in writing a letter for you.
Stand out-what makes you unique?
Every word counts-check your grammar and usage-do not use slang!
Type your essay and have someone proofread it to make sure it matches what the scholarship is asking for.
Ask for references. Have 2-3 people write you references. These can be teachers, administrators, ministerial personnel, coaches, activity leaders and more. Create a brag sheet that lists your accomplishments, activities, community service, coursework achievements and anything else that makes you stand out. Hand this to your references to help them when writing up a letter.
