The current bylaws of the Webster NHS Chapter selection process include:
1) Minimum GPA of 3.5 for initial consideration assessed after the first semester of each academic year. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are eligible to apply.
2) In order to be in the pool of candidates you must apply with a resume and essay.
The faculty council then selects the inductees from the students who submitted their resumes and essays for consideration to the NHS Advisor. Students are ranked/scored in each area of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
3) No specific quota is used for selection.
How do you apply for consideration for induction this year?
In order for you to be considered for selection and possible induction into the NHS Chapter, you are need to submit your application by email to the NHS Adviser (Mrs. Larson). Applications will be handed out in January for eligible students to complete.
1.) Original resume- This can be in any format you choose. But the resume should list your activities, accomplishments, and leadership.
2.) Essay address this topic: Essay topic to be determined.
a. Limit one (1) page double spaced, minimum 12 point type. Please type your name and grade level in the upper right hand corner of the essay.
3.) One Recommendation-will be handed out with application packet.
*If you choose not to return this information, you will not be considered or inducted.

WEBSTER NHS BYLAWS- (This is an overview of the bylaws and the full set of bylaws can be asked for by emailing the NHS Adviser (Mrs. Larson).
Once selected and to maintain membership:
Must maintain all four qualities of NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
-Maintain a 3.4 GPA or above
-Actively seek leadership roles
-Work towards 10+ hours of service
-Show good character in and out of school
Members who fall below the standards that were the basis for their selection shall be promptly warned in writing by the chapter adviser and given a reasonable amount of time to correct the deficiency, except that in the case of flagrant violation of school rules or the law, a member does not have to be warned.
*Members who are seniors in good standing are eligible to apply and compete in the National Honor Society Scholarship
program.
Election of Officers
Officers will be elected at a meeting following the Induction Ceremony.
President-lead meetings and prepare for induction ceremony, call all meetings.
Vice President-lead meetings in the event the president is unable to, prepare for induction ceremony.
Secretary-keep and maintain the minutes from all meetings and send them to all members
Treasurer-manage any financials
Public Relations-sends information to the announcements about meetings, sends information to the R&F about times and dates of induction ceremony, service projects etc.
Meetings
Meetings will be held a minimum of three times a year following Robert's Rules of Order. Meetings are mandatory. Special meetings can be called at any time.
-Determine group service project
-Determine and discuss individual service projects
-Prepare for new members and induction ceremony
