Students can earn one or more endorsements with the current graduation requirements.
In order to move up a grade students must earn the following credits each year:
10th grade: 6 credits
11th grade: 12 credits
12th grade: 18 credits
WAHS Graduation requirement : 25 credits
Includes 1 credit of computers.
Students that are freshman and sophomores will need to take a minimum of 7.5 credits per year and juniors and seniors need a minimum of 6 credits per year.
The High School Diploma is the requirements all students graduating from South Dakota need to meet. Local districts have the choice to require other credits.
After meeting the High School Diploma requirements, students can add endorsements to his or her diploma.
First endorsement is the Advanced Endorsement. Includes Geometry and Alg. II plus two more lab sciences.
This endorsements meets most SD college admissions minumum requirements.
The arrow shows an area required beyond the base high school diploma requirements. Examples of how to meet the 2-unit CTE or Capstone Experience requirement:
•A student takes two CTE courses within the Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources career cluster that are part of an approved CTE program.
•A student takes two units of Capstone Experiences.
•A student takes one CTE course (1 unit) and one Capstone Experience (1 unit).
The Advanced Honors Endorsement indicates a student has pursued advanced rigorous, academic coursework consistent with the course requirements for the South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship (SDOS). Other criteria for SDOS must also be met.
This option also meets the Regent Scholar requirements as long as students maintain a 3.0 and a grade of a C or above in each class.
