Program Of Work Details -
July:
Officers meet: Plan middle school registration event; create bulletin boards; compile membership packets; plan fall membership drive
NOTE: All chapter meetings are held from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. at Mitchell Middle School in the FCS Rooms 208/210. All meetings and member events are held on Tuesdays.
August:
Fall Membership Drive (Local): Event to recruit potential members with food, fun and friends; membership packets and FCCLAwear orders distributed; registration for State Fall Leadership announced
September:
Chapter Meetings (Local): Committee sign ups; plan for Buddy Bags, Love Feast, and Trunk or Treat service projects; update calendar and featured member in display case; State Fall Leadership registrations due
Dues and T-Shirt Orders Due (Local): Officer team records, makes appropriate deposits, and compiles t-shirt order
Region Planning Meeting (Region): Region Officers and Chapter Presidents attend Zoom call to help plan Region Meeting - workshops, food, welcome speaker, honorary members, etc.
Love Feast (Local): Members help in preparing and serving meals to approximately 150 people in need; provide a children's activity (typically a mini carnival)
STAR Event Work Session (Local): First year members select and research professional presentation topic; other members review and select their STAR Event
October:
Chapter Meetings (Local): Plan for Family Potluck & Games event - mail invitations; update bulletin boards; plan for Pop Tab competition and state leadership team projects; Region Officer candidate application shared
Fall Leadership Conference (State): Chapter members join others from across the state for Rookie Training, Power Training, or State Leadership Team Training
Trunk or Treat (Local): Handout candy to approximately 800 children - in costume with decorated trunk
STAR Event Work Session (Local): Members complete planning process for their STAR Event
November:
Chapter Meetings (Local): Plan for Member Holiday Social and Candy Cane Fundraiser; Plan and execute state leadership projects; submit for CTSO Grant; update display cases; Region registration handed out
Family Potluck and Games (Local): Members and their families come together to share food and games for family interaction and the chance to know other FCCLA families
STAR Event Work Session (Local): Members continue work on STAR Events
December
Chapter Meetings (Local): CTSO grant approved - determine polo and blazer sizes and banner design; plan leadership team projects; submit to state newsletter - Moving in New Directions; work on Merit Chapter
Region 3 Registration (Region): Submit professional presentation STAR Events, officer candidates, voting delegate, knowledge bowl team members, and others attending; finalize leadership team workshop plans
Pop Tab Competition (Local): Distribute labeled buckets with rules to each teacher, make announcements, collect and weigh pop tabs, purchase and distribute prizes, sell pop tabs, send check to Ronald McDonald House
Candy Cane Fundraiser (Local): Prepare announcements/flyers and permission-to-eat-in-class slips, set up product, prepare cash bags, have members sell at two stations before school, count money - pay bills and make deposit
Member Holiday Social (Local): Middle school members host this event with activities, food and a gift exchange (sometimes replaced by purchasing Angel Tree gifts for others)
January
Chapter Meetings (Local): Present professional presentations to prepare for competition; plan for FCCLA Week; State Scholarship determined; State Leadership Conference Registration distributed
Region Meeting (Region): Members attend to present STAR Events, present/attend workshops, serve as/run for Region officer, compete in Knowledge Bowl
STAR Event Work Session (Local): Members continue work on STAR Events
February
Chapter Meetings (Local): Chapter works with local officer team to plan projects focused on award applications due in March and carry out STAR Events
FCCLA Week (National): Members advocate for FCCLA with various activities throughout the week involving members, teachers/staff, and other students
Check Out FCCLA Social (Local): A social for 6th graders and other potential members - food, station activities, FCCLA information
State Conference Registration (State): Submit STAR Event participants and evaluators/chaperones
March
Chapter Meetings (Local): Update bulletin boards and display cases; finalize state leadership team projects and submit; submit for Merit Chapter and Go For The Red Awards; State Leadership Team Member Applications announced; work on STAR Events
Merit Chapter (State): Compiled record of our involvement and accomplishments submitted for recognition
April
Chapter Meetings (Local): Plan for End-of-Year Recognition event - mail invitations; celebrate results of State Leadership Conference; officer applications encouraged; Shrine Circus sign ups
State Leadership Conference (State): Members attend to present STAR Events, participate in workshops and sessions, run for leadership teams, and gain leadership skills
Shrine Circus (Local): Members sell concessions at each of the 5 circus shows for service and fundraising
May
End-of-Year Recognition (Local): Members and their families invited for a dessert and hors d'oeuvres event; STAR Event projects/awards on display; entertainment; member and honorary recognitions; announcement and installation of next year's officers
Officers' Planning Meeting: new officers select theme for next year; set goals
June
CTSO Training (State): June 10-12 - LATC, Watertown - attended by 2025-2026 State Officers
National Leadership Conference (National): July 5 - July 9 - Orlando, FL
