Recruitment Activities
This recruitment activity focuses on middle school members. At middle school registration we set up a table with questions about FCCLA so students can learn more about the organization. The sign up sheet allows those interested in joining to write down their name and email so we can contact them with more information.
Our fall membership meeting is held the 2nd week of school before most other activities get started. Membership packets provide the essential information followed by team building activities so those in attendance gets the feel of what meetings and being a part of our organization will really feel like! Of course, beverages and snacks are part of the event.
The Mitchell High School Interest Fair is held at the high school and hosts all of the school clubs and organizations available to students. As students filter through, they are exposed to what FCCLA has to offer, have a chance to ask questions of current officers, and are encouraged to sign up to earn a dues discount at the next chapter.
This recruitment event, held during FCCLA Week, focuses on 6th graders and other potential new members. From the get acquainted activity, through stations (including a service project and theme activities), to snacks followed by a PowerPoint presentation and questions, those who attend have a great chance to experience just what FCCLA has to offer.
Retention Activities
In the Mitchell Chapter, we do our very best to ensure that each member has the ability to chair a committee to grow their experience as a leader. We also send out many Remind messages informing members about meetings and projects coming up to attempt to keep our members informed and interested.
Magnetic locker signs are useful for all years of membership. Financial rewards in discount coupons and scholarships can also be earned.
Schoolwide enouncements along with remind and email messages are used to keep all members and potential members informed.
Mitchell utilizes a point system to reward participation and leadership.
Recognition Activities
Our End-Of-Year Recognition event is used to recognize the hard work of our members throughout the year. We keep track of points earned by attending meetings, projects, running for office, or aiding in community service events in a document throughout the year. These points are used to determine the members of the year. We hand out plaques, along with prizes to match our theme. We hand out certificates for the members' accomplishments and celebrate with food and fun. Finally, we have the installation of our new officers at the very end of the event.
A small themed token is awarded as each member pays their dues. Door prizes are given out at each meeting. A member is featured in the hallway display case every 2 weeks. Mitchell hosts an end-of-year recognition event for members and their families. The top point-earning members receive gifts/plaques. Other region and state accomplishments are announced. Honorary members also receive plaques and officers for the coming year are installed. There is a perpetual plaque kept in the classroom that lists all members who earn the chance to represent our chapter and state at the National Leadership Conference.
