I am so glad you're here. We are in for a fun year of adventures in learning together! Your children are the biggest pieces of your hearts; I am honored to spend my days with them. Here are a few things to practice doing at home independently to make the transition to Kindergarten a breeze!
Opening snack packages (and lunch containers if planning to pack lunches)
Opening and closing backpack
Hanging backpack and jacket on a hook
Putting on and taking off shoes (practice PE shoes, too!)
Using the bathroom
Identifying and stating needs and wants
Asking questions with questions words
Following 2-step directions
Taking turns
Sitting at a table or desk to complete one task for 10 minutes without electronics (reading a book, coloring, play-doh, etc)
*P.E. shoes with Velcro – Safety reasons
*Book Bag
2 boxes of tissues
*Hand towel for rest time
*Pair of wired headphones in a large Ziploc bag (no ear buds)
*2 Wide-lined solid color spiral notebooks
*2 boxes of 8-count Crayola crayons
5 - #2 Ticonderoga pencils
1 solid BLACK poly pocket folder
1 solid RED poly pocket folder
*Plastic Pencil Box
4 Elmer’s Glue Sticks
1 box of gallon size Ziploc bags
1 tub of Clorox or Lysol wipes
*Extra set of clothes in a large Ziploc bag
* = please put your child’s name on those items
Any items brought to school not listed here (for example: pencil sharpeners, highlighters, colored pencils, etc) will likely be sent home.
