**Dual Credit Registration Must Be Approved By Administration**

Gateway Certificates consist of three to four courses that students can complete through the High School Dual Credit (HSDC) program or at a South Dakota public university. Each certificate is aligned to a specific career pathway and includes both pathway-focused and general education courses.
This allows students to explore a degree and career area through real college coursework before committing to a full program, while earning credits that still count toward future credentials. Areas include Teaching, Agriculture, Business, Engineering, Architecture, Digital Technology, Health Science, and STEM.
Upon completion, the certificate appears on the student’s South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR) transcript. While designed with HSDC students in mind, Gateway Certificates are open to all SDBOR students and do not have to be completed through dual credit.
If you don't want to think too much about your path, the standard for a 4-year university bound student at IW:
Junior year, first semester- US History, Speech
Junior year, second semester- Government, Sociology or Psychology
Senior year, first semester- English, Math, and Elective*
Senior year, second semester- English, Ethics, and Elective*
*Electives will vary based on your intended major

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED MATERIALS FOR TECHNICAL COLLEGES:
Dual Enrollment Approval Form signed by student, parent or guardian and a school official. (This form will also be emailed to you after your application is submitted)
Please Note: Per SB 142, Students who receive a ‘W’, ‘WF’ or ‘F’ in a Dual Enrollment course lose eligibility for the SD Dual Enrollment Program. To appeal a Loss of Eligibility please fill out exemption form found on the dual credit website.
SDBOR- USD, SDSU, DSU, NSU, BHSU
First-Time Dual Enrollment students who have not activated their university email address will use the first-time Add/Drop/Withdraw form
Students who have a university email address will log into this Add/Drop/Withdraw form using those credentials
Technical Colleges- LATC, MTC, STC, WDTC
Students who wish to add an additional class before the end of the registration window may do so by filling out the dual enrollment approval form linked above and bring to Mrs. Vlasman to submit on your behalf
