Smarter Balance Assessments take place each spring. Grades 3-8. These tests are mandatory from the South Dakota Board of Education.

ASVAB is taken the October of Junior year for most (2025-2026 was a skip year due to lack of available proctors). It is a test used for military entrance and aptitudes. This can also help provide non-military career planning information.
The ASVAB consists of:
25 General Science questions (11-minutes)
16 Arthhmetic Reasoning questions (36-minutes)
35 Word Knowledge questions (11-minutes)
15 Paragraph Comprehension questions (13-minutes)
25 Auto & Shop questions (11-minutes)
25 Mathematics Knowledge questions (24-minutes)
25 Mechanical Comprehension questions (19-minutes)
20 Electronics Information questions (9-minutes)
16 Assembling Objects questions (9-minutes)
Students are able to take a practice test on their own

The ACCUPLACER is an alternative test that determines eligibility for certain college classes. It can be used in place of the ACT or Smarter Balance if those tests have not been taken yet.
ACCUPLACER tests must be taken at a university testing center and must be scheduled at least a day in advance. In special occasions, I may be able to proctor the exam, but only if I am already certified as a proctor for that school
