SCHOOLWIDE & CLASSROOM
Teaching students behavior expectations are are as important as teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. Prevention activities to impact a welcoming caring environment need leadership, teaming and the teaching of expectations, while modeling the behavior we expect from students.
TARGETED & SMALL GROUP
When students are not responding to Tier 1 interventions and supports, more targeted ones are provided. Delivered through small group or in the classroom setting. 10-15% of students will generally be in this targeted group.
INDIVIDUALIZED
A small percentage (3-5%) of students will continue to show minimal to no progress in Tier 1 and 2, and will need multiple tiers of ongoing intervention. Plans incorporate all tiers of support and intensive interventions.
SBBH staff are an integral part of a school's Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for behavior. In collaboration with the school's student support team members, appropriate behavioral supports and interventions, matched to a student's needs, create an effective and efficient tiered system for all students.
While the primary focus of SBBH support focused on Tier 3 (Individual Student), BHSs are also a resource to school campuses for Tier 1 (School-Wide Behavior Expectations) and Tier 2 (Classroom & Small Social Skill Groups). At Tiers 1 and 2, SBBH can provide consultative support to school wide behavior teams and for Classroom Management Planning, Student Support Teams, Tiered teams, consult to general education and special education teachers as well direct services for crisis and small group interventions when warranted.
