The Arctic is a very cold and desolate region of the Earth. There are no permanent settlements in these areas as the environment is unforgiving. Yet a few brave animals choose to call this place home. In this showcase, the first graders will introduce to you three of these amazing animals. The Arctic Fox, the Walrus, and the Emperor Penguin.

W - Students WROTE about their chosen animal’s specific behaviors or physical features that help them survive in their harsh environment.
I - Students used their INQUIRY skills to generate questions and research their animal traits and behavior.
C - Students COLLABORATED with others to gather information on their Arctic animals.
O - Students used graphic ORGANIZERS and student created models to display their information and organize their thoughts.
R -Students Researched and READ articles and books regarding their Arctic animals.
