As we begin another school year, it is important to inform all Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (Department) employees of the Department’s expectations so that we are all prepared to support student success. Please be advised that as an employee of the Department, you are required to follow all Board of Education (BOE) policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines, profiles, and the Department’s Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may subject you to disciplinary action, which will be taken in accordance with applicable laws, policies, regulations, rules, and collective bargaining agreements. An electronic copy of the Opening of the School Year Packet (Packet) will be sent to each employee through his/her Department Gmail account and will be accessible via the Intranet. Additional information relevant to school administrators and Bargaining Unit 05 (BU05) employees is located in the “School Administrators and BU05 Employees Section.” The documents included in this Packet represent areas of particular importance. You are required to review all of the documents included in this Packet and follow all BOE policies and Department procedures, regulations, guidelines, profiles, and the Department’s Code of Conduct. BOE policies can be found online at http://boe.hawaii.gov. Department supervisors should allow all employees the opportunity to review BOE policies upon the start of the school year or upon employment.
