Because of health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, parents can continue to request that their child participate in 100% Distance Learning for at least 1 quarter at a time for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.
Our total school enrollment is about 740 students. About 130 are currently enrolled as 100% Distance Learners or "Always Virtual." The priority of the school is to implement a blended learning plan (in-person and distance learning). As such, support for 100% Distance Learning is limited. (For more information, see Learning Models and Considerations)
Changes between learning models should be made at each quarter. However, changes can be made at any time on a case by case basis.
Students should continue to follow our recommended weekly plan for 100% Distance Learners.
K12 Learning will replace Acellus as the distance learning platform during Quarter 4 for the core subjects of English language arts, math, science and social studies.
Satisfactory completion of K12 Learning Quarter 4 Units of Study along with completion of Acellus courses will be counted towards promotion for the next school year.
Students will focus on the core subject areas of English Language Arts. Math, Science and Social Studies.
For students who are finishing or finished with Acellus courses, electives will still be available.
Grading and Report Cards: For Quarter 1, "SC" or "See Comments" was marked on official report cards with the Acellus Report Card attached. For Quarters 2, 3, & 4 - the school is still deciding on the best way to report progress. For example, students may receive "MP" or "meeting proficiency" if they are on track to complete Acellus and K12 Learning coursework.
K12 Learning will be starting on March 1, 2021. From March 1-12, parents and children will be able to explore the program and get familiar with it. No work will be required or graded during this time.
Students should continue to complete lessons in Acellus until the end of 3rd Quarter, March 12. Quarter 3 grades will be based on progress in Acellus.
On Monday, March 22 students will start using K12 Learning as the primary platform for 100% Distance Learning.
Core curricular areas (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) will be completely transitioned from Acellus to K12 learning
K12 lessons should take higher priority
iReady can still be used to supplement and will be used at the end of the year to measure student progress
Acellus electives will remain open (for those who indicated interest)
Begin work in the K12 program on March 22, 2021.
All students, regardless of Acellus program completion, are expected to complete the Quarter 4 work in assigned in K12 Learning.
Monitoring of progress by the POC will be provided.
Recommended Time:
1.5 hours ELA - daily
1 hour math - daily
45 min. each science & social studies (2x per week)
iReady lessons in reading and math may be used as a supplement.
Students will need to take the iReady end of year diagnostic assessment.
