Mililani High School is home of FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 2853 and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team 7438 and 17063!
Founded in 2009, the primary goals of MHS Hot Spot Robotics are:
(1) To increase awareness, interest, and appreciation in STEM for our members, school, and community;
(2) To provide our students with a hands-on real world experience to increase STEM and workplace skills in order to build a brighter future.
This award is given to the team that demonstrates machine robustness, in both concept and fabrication. Our students were able to demonstrate to the judges how their robot was built not only to meet the needs of the intended robot concept, but that it could also withstand the rigors of competition - maintaining functionality, including the use of designed-in redundancy and risk mitigation measures.

This award is bestowed to a mentoring individual who has done an outstanding job of motivation through communication while also challenging the students to be clear and succinct in their communications. Our students nominated our coach, Mr. Tyson Kikugawa, for the award and wrote a heartfelt essay on the impact that he has made on their STEM journeys through FIRST.

This award is given to teams who think imaginatively and have the ingenuity, creativity, and inventiveness in their approach and execution of a design solution to play the FIRST Tech Challenge game, CENTERSTAGE℠. To be eligible for an award, the team needs to effectively document and communicate their process with a portfolio and live presentation. This recognition continues a legacy of award-winning FTC teams throughout our program’s history.
