The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) in partnership with the Cook Center for Human Connection, a national non-profit family foundation, will be providing families and staff statewide with access to ParentGuidance.org, a 24/7 online platform of resources and support for student mental health.
ParentGuidance.org works with schools and their communities nationwide, empowering families to help children thrive through its mental health resources. Hawaiʻi parents and school staff will have free access to resources including:
Regular one-on-one parent coaching for parents, families and school staff.
Access to over 30 mental health series virtual seminars
Online lessons led by licensed therapists (over 70 on-demand courses)
"Ask a Therapist," a frequently updated question and answer forum
In addition to free access to this website, Hawaii Department of Education is offering Parent Coaching, a confidential service provided to parents and families. Click on the picture to the right to register. A coach can meet with you as often as weekly for a 30-minute session to discuss your concerns or needs. You will also be able to message your coach if other concerns arise before your next scheduled meeting. Here is more information about the coaching process:
Our Complex Area will also be offering webinars referred to as our Mental Health Series. This series will be held throughout the school year to educate parents and staff on topics such as: Your Child’s Anxiety, Helping Your Child Succeed – Three Parenting Styles, and Social Media: Protecting Your Child.
