How do I Sign Up?
It's a two-step process.
Complete the Afterschool Enrollment Form online. Once finished, your parent/guardian will be sent a confirmation email.
Very important: The confirmation email will have the sign up links for the separate programs!
Paper are not yet available. When they are available, completed paper forms must be dropped off at the library, into the drop box. Confirmation emails for paper enrollment forms may take a week or longer to be sent out. If you have questions, email the after school program coordinator. Please do not submit another application. More applications will slow down the process further.
Psst! DO NOT give the enrollment forms to anyone, not even your homeroom teacher!
Can I join more than one Kalama club or sport?
Absolutely! Look for tryouts or sign up dates for the sports and club which interest you.
Be aware: some programs will have enrollment limits.
Do I fill out a form for every club or sport I join?
No! One form, for all clubs and programs, is completed each school year.
How will I hear information about the sports or club programs?
You'll learn about all the happenings through student media, our school website, the school calendar and flyers posted around school. Check your emails frequently. Also, join the Google Classroom. Join code is h3en2s2. Announcements will be posted there.
If I sign up, am I automatically approved to join?
No. Your sport will have tryouts and your club will have a sign up date and may have enrollment limits. The only program you are automatically a part of, once you enroll, is Study Hall.
I heard that I might have to sign additional forms, other than just the enrollment form?
Yes. Your club or sport program leader may have club/sport policies for you and your parents to agree to. You may also have to get a travel form signed, if you are going to away games or a field trip with your club. If you are in a sport, you will go through mandatory concussion awareness training.
Wait. I took the training last year!
Good. But you have to take it every new school year.
School ends at 2:00 PM but practice isn't until three. What do I do?
It is required for you to check in at school cafeteria by 2:15 PM. You remain there and complete homework, read or play board games, until your club or sport begins. If you are signed up for tutoring, you are welcomed to use the library for tutoring.
This is for safety purposes. If you are frequently late, you may be asked to leave the program. We are not staffed like a child care program. You must remain in the assigned area by your program leader. Not doing so puts your safety at risk, which, as stated in the after school program rules, means you may be asked to leave the program and return when you can follow instructions.
Wait, why would I get asked to leave, if I am late a few times?
The program is legally responsible for your safety, and if we cannot confirm your whereabouts in a safe location, parents/guardians will understandably be upset and our school may get into trouble. So, if you cannot commit to following instructions, then leave the program and rejoin later, when you can ensure you can arrive on time.
Aw, man. I get hungry after school, and I want to go to MinitStop before practice!
No can do, bugaboo. You should pack an extra snack from home. Depending on funding, the after school program may provide an extra snack, too.
