Have a fun and SAFE summer!! See you on Monday, August 4th!
May 2025
Dear Kaʻiulani ʻOhana,
As we come to the end of the 2024–2025 school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we have shared as a school community.
Our students have grown in so many ways—whether it is our fifth graders, who once began their journey as tiny, curious kindergarteners and are now ready to take on the challenges of middle school, or our Kaʻiulani Elementary alumni who have gone on to graduate from high school, each of you has shown resilience, determination, and the spirit of Kaʻiulani.
To our fifth graders, your journey has been a remarkable one. You have learned, grown, and become confident leaders, ready to take on the adventures of middle school. Just like Princess Kaʻiulani, you embody a love for learning and a spirit of perseverance. Remember that you carry with you the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained here at Kaʻiulani—tools that will guide you as you step into new opportunities and challenges ahead.
To our current students, teachers, and staff—you have made this school year truly special. Through your hard work, kindness, and dedication, we exemplified aʻo ʻoiaʻiʻo—authentic learning, quality interactions, and a deep sense of community. Together, we created a safe and nurturing space where curiosity was encouraged, and each individual was valued. Your contributions have shaped our school into a place where learning is meaningful, joyful, and rooted in care.
To all our students, families, teachers, and staff—mahalo nui loa for your support, your dedication, and your belief in the power of learning and community. Together, we have built something special here at Kaʻiulani, and I am grateful for each and every one of you.
As we head into the summer months, I wish you all a season filled with rest, joy, and new adventures. May your summer be safe, happy, and full of wonderful memories with your loved ones.
With aloha,
Dr. Bebi Davis

April 2025
Dear Kaʻiulani ʻOhana,
As we say goodbye to April 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect and celebrate. It has officially been one year since I joined the Kaʻiulani Elementary ʻohana, and what a remarkable journey it has been! Over the past year, we have made tremendous gains in implementing best practices for our students, always with the goal of ensuring that every child thrives.
Our teachers have engaged in extensive professional learning, including training in Building Thinking Classrooms for math instruction and expanding opportunities in computer science integration through coding with Bee-Bots, Micro:bit, Code.org, and Scratch. These exciting innovations are already making a visible impact in classrooms, nurturing both critical thinking and creativity. Additionally, our teachers recently participated in a learning walkthrough and reflection at Maemae Elementary, where they explored innovation integration, collective teacher efficacy, and accountable talk strategies.
Our strong school-family partnership continues to fuel our students' success. This month, we were thrilled to see our families come out in full force for our HĀ Focus Parent-Student-ʻOhana Hour in our cafeteria. Your presence and participation truly make a difference. Looking forward to seeing you on May 16 at 1:00 pm.
As we look ahead to May, we will focus on celebrating our students' growth and achievements throughout the year. We are especially excited to recognize our Grade 5 students as they prepare for their promotion to middle school — a milestone that marks the beginning of their next journey. We look forward to celebrating this important accomplishment with our Kaʻiulani ʻohana on May 30, 2025.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership. Together, we are building a future filled with promise for every Kaʻiulani student.
Mahalo nui loa,

Dear Kaʻiulani ʻOhana,
Welcome back from a rejuvenating Spring Break! I'm excited for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. March was filled with remarkable learning and engagement at Kaʻiulani Elementary.

(Grade K), House building project (Grade 1), Egg Drop Experiment (Grade 2), A HOT and ICY water bottle is good (Grade 3), Lava Flow Showdown (Grade 4), Marine Garbage Collector (Grade 5).
A special congratulations to Mr. Pavia and his students, who will represent Kaʻiulani Elementary at the State Science and Engineering Fair on April 2nd with their project, “A HOT and ICY water bottle is good.” We are incredibly proud and wish them the best of luck!
Our EL Design Team showcase was another highlight, emphasizing quality interaction and the development of crucial oracy skills. We were particularly impressed by our teachers' implementation of best practices and our students' confident articulation and meaningful dialogue. The focus on cultural awareness has enriched our entire school community.
The success of our literacy initiative underscores the strong partnership between our school and families. Your dedication to fostering a love of reading is making a significant impact.
Ongoing teacher training in innovation and AI Magic School is empowering our educators to create dynamic and engaging learning environments. We look forward to seeing the continued integration of these innovative tools in our classrooms.
In April, we will focus on environmental stewardship and Earth Day awareness. Thank you for your continued partnership and unwavering support in making Kaʻiulani Elementary a place where every child thrives.

February 2025
Dear Kaʻiulani ʻOhana,
As we wrap up February 2025, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our students, families, and staff for your dedication and hard work. This month has been filled with exciting learning experiences - from engaging science fair projects to fostering a deep love for literacy. Our students also took time to reflect on our nation's leaders and their impact on history as they learned about Presidents’ Day.
Family engagement continues to be a cornerstone of our success, and we are incredibly grateful for the support you provide at home. Whether by attending school events, encouraging your child’s learning, or staying connected with our teachers, your involvement makes a meaningful difference in our students’ growth and achievement.

January 2025
Dear Kaʻiulani ʻOhana,
As we close out the first month of 2025, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the dedication, support, and teamwork that make our school such a special place. Our success as a learning community is made possible by the hard work of our students, the commitment of our teachers, and the unwavering support from our families and staff.
This month, we have focused on the theme of self-efficacy—the belief in one’s ability to succeed through effort and perseverance. By fostering self-efficacy, we empower our students to take on challenges with confidence, set goals, and develop a mindset of growth and resilience. We encourage our keiki to embrace learning as a journey where mistakes are opportunities for growth, and persistence leads to success.
Also, a big shout-out to our kindergarteners for reaching a fantastic milestone—100 days of school! We are so proud of their growth, enthusiasm, and curiosity as they continue to learn and explore each day. Keep up the great work!
I would also like to emphasize the importance of attendance. Every school day matters, and consistent attendance is key to student success. When children attend school regularly, they build strong academic foundations, develop good habits, and stay engaged in their learning. We encourage families to make attendance a priority by ensuring children arrive on time and ready to learn each day. Your support in sending your child to school consistently makes a significant impact on their education and future success.
As we move forward into the year, let us continue to work together to provide our children with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community. Together, we will continue to uplift and inspire one another toward a bright and promising future.
