Canvas Online Courses (if available)

Canvas Courses: Canvas is the Hawaii Department of Education's Digital Learning Management System similar to Google Classroom. It allows the curriculum to be delivered to students in person or virtually.
A few of these courses are available in Canvas Commons which is a lesson/curriculum repository. Schools interested in using Canvas can get access through the Hawai’i Virtual Learning Network (HVLN) Hawai‘i Online Teaching program. Individual teachers may also sign up using the HVLN form on the webpage after getting their administrator's consent. (Direct link to Google form)

HEALTH

This Health Education Scope and Sequence below is a resource from the Health Education Toolkit. It is designed to support educators in planning and delivering comprehensive Health Education rooted in Hawaiʻi. It is offered as a tool to help educators align their curriculum with the National Health Education Standards (NHES) in Hawaiʻi (NHES, 2nd Edition) and Nā Hopena Aʻo (HĀ).

THE GIFTED & TALENTED GRADES 4-5

The Virtual Learning Center is excited to share enrichment units and project-based learning opportunities created specifically for gifted and talented students in Grades 4–5. While originally developed for the State Distance Learning Program Strive-GT students, these resources are now available for all HIDOE teachers to use and adapt for their own classrooms.

Please note: These materials have been developed by the SDLP team and have not been formally approved by the Hawai‘i Department of Education. Teachers are encouraged to review the content for alignment with their school’s curriculum and instructional goals.

VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS

In Collaboration with the Department of Land and Natural Resources

The Virtual Learning Center has teamed up with the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) to bring you a series of exciting virtual field trip modules. Each module of this DLNR Virtual Field Trip Canvas Course allows teachers across the state to take their students on immersive virtual field trips to some of Hawai’i’s most treasured locations such as Kaniakapupu, Ka'ena Point, Puʻu Wa'awa'a, Kapapala Koa Canoe Forest! Currently, lesson plans are available for a few virtual field trips. More will be coming soon!
