The Introduction to College Mathematics course is designed to prepare upcoming 12th graders for MATH 100 or Introduction to College Statistics at any of the ten University of Hawaii campuses. Qualifying students will be enrolled in the Intro to College Math course during the Fall semester and those who earn a B or better will be eligible to be enrolled in MATH 100 online for the Spring Semester. The Intro to College Math course is a 2-period course, which means your child will be in this Math course for 2 consecutive periods during the day.
In order to qualify for placement into the Intro to College Math course, the following requirements must be met:
Receive a score of 2 on the 11th grade Smarter Balanced Math assessment
Receive a grade of B or better in Intro to College Math
If students receive a grade of B or better in the Intro to College Math course, they automatically qualify to enroll for Math 100 during the spring semester. The Math 100 is an online course and will be taught by a Leeward Community College professor or lecturer. Students will remain in the same 2 consecutive periods for this online course and a Mililani High School math teacher will be present to assist students as they progress through the online course.
Mililani High School will be sending out letters to qualifying incoming seniors. Letters were sent out during June.
Please view the powerpoint below for general information about the course
Students will earn 1 Math Credit for Intro to College Math (Fall Semester), and 1 Math Credit for Math 100 (Spring Semester) = 2 high school math credits. Students will also earn 3 college credits upon successful completion of Math 100 in the Spring (Successful completion is defined as a C or better).
