The University of Hawaii West Oahu Creative Media program was created in recognition of emerging media platform needs in various career pathways. UH West Oahu's Creative Media program embraces digital media literacy experienced through video, animation, video games, design, social media, web and app development, virtual and augmented reality, other forms of media communication and design and digital storytelling.
The Creative Media degree offers concentrations in General Creative Media, Communications and New Media Technologies, Design and Media and Game Design and Development.
Beginning in SY 2022-2023, Mililani High School will be offering beginning level courses that count towards a Creative Media degree at UH West Oahu. We are going to start this opportunity by offering ART 112 (Introduction to Digital Art), which is an introduction to the technology, vocabulary and procedures of computer produced images in the Fall 2022 semester. We are also hoping to offer ART 107 D in the Spring 2023 semester. We will be working closely with our UH West O'ahu partners to determine other course offerings for our early college students. The courses we are offering will be part of the Academy of Creative Media Core courses and are applicable towards a Creative Media degree at UH West Oahu.
It is important to note that this opportunity would best fit students who are interested in pursuing Creative Media degrees. Students who will be matriculating directly to UH West Oahu to continue their education at UH West Oahu will have a seamless transition into the Creative Media program. If students are hoping to transfer these credits to a College or University outside of the UH system, it is highly recommended that they consult with the admissions office or program director of their selected campus to ensure course relevance and usability towards their selected degree.
