According to a WalletHub study entitled, "2023's Best and Worst States to Drive in," Hawaiʻi was ranked the worst state to drive in, due to a variety of factors, including highest average regular gas price in the nation, fewest auto-repair shops per square foot of population, and third highest auto maintenance costs in the country.
10th Largest U.S. Carrier
Boeing estimates that 610,000 aviation maintenance technicians will be needed over the next two decades to support the growing global aviation industry. To meet this soaring demand, Honolulu Community College and Hawaiian Airlines, the 10th largest U.S. carrier in passenger numbers, have formed an innovative partnership to graduate more local students as highly skilled aviation maintenance technicians.
A Vital Shipping Hub & Naval Base
The Pearl Harbor Navy Yard Apprentice Program graduated its first apprentice class in 1924. Since then, more than 5,600 men and women have completed the program. The program includes paid full-time employment, hands-on training, and a tuition-free Applied Trades degree from Honolulu Community College (HCC).
