Biology 1 is a laboratory course to develop an understanding of fundamental life processes, relationships between structure and function, relationships between organisms and their biological and physical environments, environmental adaptations, classification, reproduction, genetics, and evolution. Emphasis is on the use of scientific investigations to develop inquiry process skills and strategies and to clarify the basic concepts of life and the impact of humans and technology on the quality of life. Students are to meet all High School Life Science Next Generation Science Standards.
