Throughout high school JROTC helped me in a variety of ways. The program taught me to challenge myself, helped me make new friends, and ultimately helped me with getting into all my colleges.
The program instilled many values and habits that I still use today, as well as giving me a head start on my military career.
It was a great experience and emphasized the importance of wingmanship in a culture where it’s every person for themself.
JROTC helped me cut the nonsense out of my life and focus on meaningful goals. it taught me personal responsibility and accountability. I also learned that when you're entrusted into a position of leadership, you work for subordinates as well as your superiors.
I have grown my confidence as a better leader and follower through the numerous lessons I’ve learned in NJROTC, both inside and outside the classroom. I’ve learned how to look out for others and in turn, have built my mentorship skills. Additionally, NJROTC taught me the importance of diligence and following through with tasks. Although I won’t be in the classroom, I’ll be carrying these lessons of leadership, follower ship and character building for the rest of my life.
Having been part of the first students in NJROTC for Lebanon Trail, I was fortunate to meet a group of incredible people who motivated me everyday to excel in all that I did. My time in NJROTC gave me glimpse into a life of service, a mission that fulfill everyday while at the Naval Academy.
I am incredibly grateful for all the mentorship I have had from both cadets and NJROTC instructors. The NJROTC program has helped me meet new friends and helped me feel more confident as a leader. In my senior year of high school I became the program’s Community Service Officer. This experience gave me leadership opportunities to lead volunteering groups and make connections with local organizations for volunteering.
