This years Global Summit was held at the Andover Cormier Youth Center. The theme this year was "Preserving Language and Culture." We started with icebreakers in the gym. We then kicked off the day by hearing about a couple of students immersive experience in Hawaii, which was quite exciting to hear about!
We then moved onto the days activities. I started off with rock painting and attempted to paint the flag of Finland, but failed (despite how easy it is). Instead I decided to paint a rock with smiley faces as that was more up my alley. I then moved onto to henna where I created a smiley face tattoo with my friend (she had the eyes and I had the mouth; when put together our fingers made a smiley face)! I also tried out making leis, but it seemed that a common theme for me is that I lack artistic abilities. I watched other people put them together and helped them pick designs instead!
Finally, we did the design challenge of the summit. This year the design challenge was along the lines of creating ways to preserve culture with both tangible and intangible ways. My group decided to focus on Latin American Art and Literature and had a lot of fun creating our plan. We decided we could have art classes to teach people on specific Latin art styles and to create a gallery or section in the library with tradition latin american books.
Overall, I really enjoyed this summit! I can't believe it was my last (and first in person) one!

In 2020, I attended two Glocal H Blocks and they were a lot fun and interesting to me. I did one where we learned how to form our websites and I also participated in Glocamole. Glocamole was amazing as it allowed me to see how the UN Global Goals can work in our Andover community and how we can take measures to follow and achieve these goals.
I have been apart of the Red Cross Club for four years now, working to help host blood drives and fundraise for the organization. We have also taken efforts to learn and teach others on different topics relating to International Humanitarian Laws and ways we can spread awareness on local needs/recovery efforts by the Red Cross. This past year I led the club as Co-President and have truly enjoyed the entire process. I wish to continue working with the Red Cross in college and beyond as it truly has become something I value in my life.
I have been doing DECA for three years and became a board member this past year. This truly has been one of my favorite clubs as I have been able to explore the business world. I have competed in the Integrated Marketing Campaign -Event for each of my years in DECA and have been pretty successful in it. I can first in districts in 2021 and 6th in states, and this past year I came 7th and won an award for being among some of the top test takers of the Marketing Cluster Exam! This club has truly allowed me to explore the business world not only in the context of the United States, but globally. I have had to be able to analyze global markets and be able to identify important characteristics of a marketing campaign to ensure I could pitch the most successful and realistic one I could.
To the right I have attached my marketing plan I created for this year!
Bio Builders: In this club I explored my passion of Biology, but more specifically biotechnology. I loved being apart of this club and researching ideas and participating in labs that I was passionate about. Last year I was fortunate enough to be able to be published in an online journal called BioTreks, if you would like to read my article on enhancing innate immunity click here!
Swimming: I have been swimming competitively for 8 years now, participating in both the high school season and my own club season at ANA. Swimming has become a major part of who I am today and I love the sport as it pushes me to do my best. However due to COVID-19, I was forced to stop ANA and high school as my family and I felt that it was unsafe to continue for the year.
Health For Humanity: I have been apart of this club for the past 3 years and begun doing it during the pandemic. I really love this club and ended up becoming secretary my junior year. This club has truly expanded my views on the world and has allowed me to give back to my community and to Doctor without Borders. I was able to learn more about global issues and also talk to seniors in our local community, which was one of my favorite parts of the cub!
