What's Going on in our School?

By Maddie Navea

World Culture Club will be hosting a clothing drive through Dress for Success, a non-profit organization known worldwide. This drive is specifically for women all over the world who will be doing job interviews so that they can become economically independent. Madeline Navea and Ava Cima are running this, as well as campaigning outside of school. They chose this organization to follow the theme of the school: Empowered Women, Empowering Women. The club will be collecting the clothes in boxes located in the following classrooms: Mrs. McQuoid’s, Mrs. Sharp’s, Mr. Gallagher’s, Mrs. Sawick’s, Ms. Bouchard’s, and the Main Office. The drive will introduce the club to the school by showing what they do and what they will continue to do. The World Culture Club hopes that through various platforms such as social media and posters it will become known to everyone. The club is setting the goal to make an impact on the world, making it a better place.

Book and Film Club will be doing a children’s book drive and through Tree House Books. This will be taking place through the week of November 19th. All books will be collected in these classrooms: Mrs. Kugler’s, Mrs. Sharp’s, Mrs. McQuoid’s, Mrs. Kane’s, and the Main Office. Madeline Navea is running this drive to spread awareness that we are lucky that we have books and time to read. Many kids around Philadelphia do not have the same opportunities we do to read. Doing this drive will help kids in numerous ways allowing them to grow into well-educated and well-rounded adults.
