Using typography to create images and designs
Students will be able to create a recognizable image of an animal out of typography using Adobe Illustrator or Gravit Designer.
Find an image of an animal, preferably a profile view (side view)
It needs to be a clear image of the full animal.
Insert your image on a new Gravit file - US Letter Landscape (11" x 8.5")
Create an outline of the animal using the pen tool.
Your trace MUST be ONE CLOSED shape! You must END at the START of your trace!
Create a list of 20-30 words that describe your animal (single words not phrases) on the SIDE of your page ... in SEPERATE text boxes!
You will fill the animal outline with words in different fonts and different sizes. All the words need to be associated with the animal you chose.
The words inside can overlap to the OUTSIDE of your trace.
Once all words have been placed inside your trace, make sure your trace is on TOP of all the words, and use a clipping mask to "trim" the words.
Turn in 2 files to Google Classroom:
File > Export > PNG (File name: Animal 1 Last First)
Select all > Screenshot (File name: Animal 2 Last First)
Your Pen Tool Trace must be the TOP layer!
To "clip" the words that on the outside of your trace:
Select all your words and your trace
Right click > Mask with Shape
To turn in:
File > Export > PNG from Gravit
File name: Animal 1 Last First
Ctrl-A (select all of your objects!) > screenshot
File name: Animal 2 Last First)
Turn in to Google Classroom!
