Junction City School District - Bilingual Resource Coordinator/Equity Director
Equity matters because it represents fairness and justice. It ensures that all students have access to the resources, opportunities, and support necessary to succeed, regardless of their background, abilities, or circumstances. I want our students to feel a sense of belonging and empowerment, encouraging them to engage and excel in all areas of their educational life.
Laurel & Territorial Elementary School - English Language Development
Equity matters to me because every student should feel heard, valued, and seen in school. I want our school to be a safe and welcoming place where both students and staff are celebrated for who they are.
Territorial Elementary School - Principal & Junction City High School - Assistant Principal
Equity matters to me because people matter to me. We all want to have success in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones, especially our children as they navigate education. Sometimes, personal circumstances and the systemic inequities that exist can create roadblocks for students to be able to achieve success. By centering on equity, we can more readily assure that students are welcomed, safe, seen, heard and valued. This will in turn help students find belonging and support that allows them to achieve their goals and culture their growth as future leaders for our communities.
Junction City School District - Special Programs Director
I believe that all students, regardless of their race, gender, socioeconomic status, language, or disability, have a rightful presence in our classrooms, schools, and community. Every person holds value and should be viewed through their strengths and valued for their unique perspective. Instruction should be planned and implemented to ensure that each student has the supports needed to access their education and learn at high levels.
Junction City School District - Director of Instruction, Assessment & Professional Development
I believe that learning and a safe, welcoming school should be accessible to all students. By listening, learning, and working with others, I hope to build a community where everyone can be themselves, build meaningful relationships, respect differences, and get what they need to be successful.
Oaklea Middle School - 5th Grade Teacher
Equity means creating a space where ALL voices are valued, cultures are respected, and students see themselves reflected in their learning. Equity work is a commitment to healing, empowerment, and systemic change.
Junction City School District - Board Member
Equity matters to me because I have seen first-hand the negative effects that biases have had on the people I love and the students in our schools. As a school board and community member, I am dedicated to working toward a culture that respects and celebrates our individualities, that assists each student with what they need for success, and that makes every student feel that they belong and are welcome in our schools. It is crucial for every student to feel that they are safe, seen, heard and valued so that they can rise to their full potential in their future.
