Suggested Duration: 5 Weeks

UNIT DESCRIPTION

In this unit, students will be introduced to Adobe Animate CC. They will learn the basic knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the coursework that follows this unit and throughout the animation program of study. It is critically important for students to learn this material before moving on to any subsequent units. In the event a student joins the course late, it is highly recommended that teachers assign this unit as independent study and as a prerequisite to starting subsequent coursework.

Each lesson contains an instructional video mini-lesson and accompanying tasks to complete in Animate CC. This will allow students to learn at their own pace and free up the instructor to support where necessary.

It is essential to prepare ahead of time by mastering the skills and techniques in each lesson before starting the live session with students. Teachers should be actively supporting students during the lesson.

Lesson 1: Introduction to Adobe Animate CC - Workspace, Navigation, and Selection (1 Day)

Lesson Overview

Students are introduced to Adobe Animate and given an overview of the workspace and layout of the program including a description of all the panels. Students are shown how to customize their workspace to fit their needs and offered a suggestion for workspace organization during this course. In addition, students will learn how to navigate the stage with pan and zoom tools as well as learn the selection, sub-selection, and lasso tools.
