My Journey
In 2004, I was a Senior in high school, applying to colleges throughout the nation, with my only "must-have" that the college offer a degree in the "Environment." By 2008 when I graduated, I was so burnt out learning about the hopeless doom and gloom of the environment that I had to switch fields. I became a trail maintenance laborer, then construction worker, and a solar installer. . .
Learning about the current state of the environment can be detrimental for mental health, and lead to such things as activist guilt, burnout, and hopelessness. Dedicating your life to a cause greater than yourself is noble, but unless done with the right approach, it can be damaging. In this group we will discuss and learn how to retain hope in the face of adversity and to transform difficult emotions into empowered activism.
Group is scheduled to start in August of 2023 and run through December.
