OCTOBER UPDATE
November 7, 2021
We are gearing up for our Scholastic Book Fair from 11/12-11/19 and can't wait to add more books and shelving to the library with the proceeds.
October was a busy month for us, as we were able to add lots of new books to the collection and finally see all of our students in a more routine way.
Students who participate in LYRC by reading three or more titles AND pass the AR test on those titles will not only be eligible to vote in the statewide award process, but will also be invited to a pizza party.
SEPTEMBER UPDATE
October 3, 2021
Our September was mostly spent away from the library, but we did get lots of new books processed and added to the collection. We also inventoried all the books after returning from Hurricane Ida and set the library up like new. We welcome back students to the library tomorrow, October 4.
Back in August, Mrs. Landry asked the students what kinds of books they wanted to read. The top two responses were manga/anime-based books and scary books. We're happy to add some new books in those categories as we reopen this week!

As we wait to hear when school will reopen, Mrs. Landry took a few minutes to reflect on August. It was a month of adapting for the library, but we are proud that in just a short time, we saw almost every student on campus. Below are some images from our library experiences last month.
August 15, 2021
This week, we begin library classes on a cart for grades 1st-8th. Students will be allowed to borrow books immediately.
We received our first books funded through DonorsChoose.org! These 10 books will be added to the collection to support participation in the LYRC awards selection.
You can check out our July update here, albeit a little belatedly.
July 3, 2021
Here's a look at some things that have been going on in the library while the students are enjoying summer break.
June 12, 2021
Mrs. Landry is working hard this summer to get the library ready and revamped for our students. It's been more than a year since the kids have been able to check out books and visit the library space, and we want them to feel right at home and excited to read! Through our relationship with Dr. Pat Austin at the UNO children's library, we have secured hundreds of new books to add to our collection with particular attention to our middle school readers. We are also preparing for our ABC Program (Amazing Books for Cardinals) in which we give our students books to keep in their own home library.
We can't wait for our library's Grand Reopening this fall!
