Haynes Academy students performed for several community events this year, including multiple visits to Sunrise Senior Living, the Magical Krewe of Mad Hatters, and the Jefferson Parish Special Olympics Track and Field event!
Haynes Academy participated this year for the first time ever in the Louisiana Music Educators Association District Marching Assessment. This Assessment provided our students the opportunity to be evaluated by a distinguished panel of Music Educators from across our state and region, using rubrics aligned with state and national standards.
In our first-ever performance, our Marching Band earned an Excellent rating for Band, and a Superior rating for Percussion! We were the highest scoring Marching Band in Jefferson Parish for this Assessment -- an outstanding achievement for a first-year ensemble!
Haynes Academy again participated in the Bill Evans Jazz Festival at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, earning an Excellent rating from a panel of nationally known Adjudicators!
Haynes Academy participates annually in both the Jefferson Parish and Louisiana Music Educators Association Large Ensemble Assessments. These Assessments provide our students the opportunity to be evaluated by a distinguished panel of Music Educators from across our state and region, using rubrics aligned with state and national standards.
At this year's Jefferson Parish Assessment, Haynes Academy was awarded the Sweepstakes Award (an A from every adjudicator -- the highest possible score!) for EVERY ENSEMBLE THAT PERFORMED! Our Middle School Choir (the only choir to perform at this Assessment!), our Beginning Band, our Middle School Percussion Ensemble (the only such ensemble to perform at this Assessment!), our 7/8 Middle School Concert Band, and our High School Symphonic Band, all received the Sweepstakes Award!
At the LMEA Large Ensemble Assessment, our 7/8 Middle School Concert Band received an Excellent Rating on stage (a B!), and a Superior rating in Sight Reading! Our High School Symphonic Band again received the Sweepstakes award, receiving an A from every Adjudicator both on stage and in Sight Reading!
Haynes Academy had TWELVE students selected to the District Six Senior High Honor Band, and eligible for second round Senior High All State auditions this year -- tied for the highest number in District Six!
Four of our Senior High students were selected to the All State High School Concert Bands, which is the most from any school in District Six!
Haynes Academy placed TWELVE students into this year's District Six Junior High Honor Band, which is TWICE AS MANY as any other school in District Six!
Three of our Middle School students were selected to the All State Middle School Concert Band, which is the most from any school in District Six! (No other school in District Six placed more than one student into this prestigious ensemble.)
Haynes Academy eighth grader Norah McKinney was selected to the All State Middle School Jazz Band, and was recognized as the First Chair Trumpet in the State of Louisiana, for the second year in a row!
One Haynes Academy student was selected to the District Six Senior High Honor Jazz Band.
Three Haynes Academy students were selected to the District Six Junior High Honor Jazz Band.
Six Haynes Academy musicians were selected to the All State High School Orchestra! This is the highest number selected into the Orchestra from any school in District Six!
Two Haynes Academy musicians were selected to the All State Middle School Orchestra!
This is even more impressive when considering that Haynes Academy has no Orchestra program, ... yet.
Two Haynes Academy musicians were selected to the All State High School Choirs!
Three Haynes Academy musicians were selected to the All State Middle School Mixed Choir!
Five Haynes Academy musicians were selected to the District Six Senior High Honor Choir.
Six Haynes Academy musicians were selected to the District Six Junior High Honor Choir.
This is also made more impressive when considering that we have no Choir program, ... yet.
In total, NINETEEN Haynes Academy musicians were selected to this year's Louisiana Music Educators (LMEA) All State Ensembles, across all grades.
