Please complete and submit both forms by Thursday Feb. 1, to ensure that we have the most current information for your student. (Hard copies are available in the Band Room.)

This performance is for our Haynes Marching Band students who have attended parade rehearsals.
We are also looking for a few Middle School Band students to carry our parade banner during the parade. Please contact Mr. Phelan if your student is interested in marching with us. (They will wear a Haynes Band t-shirt or hoodie, and school uniform bottoms.)
We will be also accompanied by our Jackettes Dance Team, and our Varsity and JV Cheerleaders.
Please note the chaperone guidelines below regarding who may or may not perform with us.
Band students will wear our uniform jackets and bibbers, shakos (and plumes, depending on the weather), and solid black shoes and socks. In the event of extreme cold, students may wear additional clothing under their uniform, provided it is not visible.
Banner carriers will wear a Haynes Band t-shirt or hoodie, and school uniform bottoms.
Dance and Cheer members will wear their respective uniforms.
Every participating student is asked to bring a case of water, to be distributed during the parade. (Extras will be available for various other performances as needed.) We also ask that everyone bring a small disposable poncho, in case of rain.
Unless a phone call or email is received directly from Mr. Phelan, we will follow the schedule as published on our website and Calendar. Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, it is highly unlikely that our performance will be cancelled in advance, therefore all students are expected to show up to school at the scheduled time.
In the event of a possible cancellation, we ask that parents be available to pick their students up from school in a timely manner.
We request that all parents send their students with a small disposable poncho. We will keep these in our trailer, and if needed will distribute them to our students along the route.
Chaperones are encouraged to walk with us.
We ask chaperones to sign up using this form. Parade Chaperone Sign Up 2025
To keep everyone safe, the following guidelines have been established by the Jefferson Parish School System.
Details: To help ensure the safety of our students, staff, and chaperones, the following guidelines must be followed for all bands and auxiliary units marching in parades.
There must be at least one administrator present as a chaperone for parades.
Two administrators are recommended for the super krewes.
A mandatory meeting with chaperones before walking in any parade is required.
The following topics must be discussed:
How to identify bullying
Where to report bullying
Dos and Don'ts on the parade route
Proper Attire
Absolutely NO drinking of alcohol before, during, or during transport back to the school
No children/strollers allowed in the parade
All chaperones must receive information/training on how to report bullying.
Chaperones should wear attire that represents the school. Chaperones are not required to wear expensive items (sweatsuits, etc.). However, there should be uniformity.
You must have a police escort:
If you are having any issues securing one or more, please contact Germaine Gilson.
Schools with a resource officer should secure their officer first before securing additional officers
Chaperones (employees and non-employees) may not consume any alcoholic beverage at any time while acting as chaperones. This means before the parade, during the parade, and on the ride home with students on the bus.
All funds received from parade krewes must be deposited in the school's account and then distributed to the band and auxiliary units by the principal. This process must be done fairly and equitably.
Only current students enrolled in your school, and middle school students who are zoned to your school may participate with your band/auxiliary units.
Students may not act as chaperones:
Chaperones must be at least 22 years of age (the age of our youngest teachers).
Administrators/teachers/chaperones must refrain from having their own children with them at parades when acting as a chaperone unless the child is a member of the band or auxiliary unit.
Secure enough buses to transport students to and from the parade safely:
Do not overcrowd buses. All students and chaperones must have a seat.
All sponsors must have emergency numbers and contact information for students in their specific unit.
