Overview

Family Ministry Vision to help families thrive.

Family Ministry Mission to invite and lead families into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Strategy to create environments where families are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders.

Orange is a philosophy of ministry based on bringing the church and the family together. When two influences (church and family) work together, they are greater than the two influences working alone.

Families and churches are each working hard to build faith in kids, but imagine the potential results when the two environments synchronize, maximizing their individual efforts. What can the church do to empower the family? How can the family emphasize the work of the church? The answer is to think Orange. The Orange philosophy helps the church and families combine their efforts and begin to work off the same page for the sake of children and students. This Orange philosophy helps us have a transparent, authentic approach that gives every family and our church hope for being more effective in our common mission.

There are five priorities for building faith in the next generation

  • Integrate Strategy - Align leaders and parents to lead with the same end in mind

  • Refine the Message - Craft core truths into engaging, relevant, and memorable experiences

  • Reactivate the Family - Enlist parents to act as partners in the spiritual formation of their own children

  • Elevate Community - Connect everyone to a caring leader and a consistent group of peers

  • Leverage Influence - Consistent opportunities are created for students to experience personal ministry

Our Goal is for the life of every kid and student to reflect the words of Jesus, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,'” (Matthew 22:37-39, NIV). We believe in these verses so much that we have connected every curriculum and resource to three key relationships; God, Self and Others. The real measure for spiritual growth is not how much kids know but by how much they love. John 13: 34 & 35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Three Dials, imagine that every kid has three separate dials you can turn to help them connect with God. We call those dials Wonder, Discovery and Passion.

Phases are a part of childhood development. A phase is a timeframe in kids’ lives when we can leverage distinctive opportunities to influence their future. Our job is not to redefine God at every phase. Our job is to help kids and students rediscover God, in a new way, at each phase. We can help kids rediscover God by learning how much to turn each "dial" at every phase.

Scope and Cycle is our plan for teaching kids. Our scope prioritizes what we will teach and our cycle strategically reinforces those principles again and again, in a variety of creative ways.

Environments are an important part of our strategy. We believe our role is to create relevant environments that are helpful in instructing and influencing children and students towards a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Our four main environments are Waumba Land (Birth - 4 years), UpStreet (K-5th grade), Transit (6-8th grade), and InsideOut (9-12th grade).
